If you’re looking for a place to bring the kids or grandkids or you just want to spend a few nostalgic minutes thinking about your Minnesotan childhood, playgrounds are an obvious but often forgotten choice. Way cheaper (free, usually) than a show or an amusement park and providing hours of fun, here are some of the top playgrounds to stop at in Minnesota.

There's nothing quite like admiring the snowy playground. Snowy playgrounds make the kids nostalgic for the pre-snow play days and adults nostalgic for the old days. And when the snow melts, the fun begins! Let's start with swings...

1. Minnesotan's all love a good set of swings, and it sure doesn't hurt when it's lakeside like this one at Lake Calhoun!

2. The playground at Franconia Sculpture Park is not only artwork but it's super fun as well!

3. This Lake Nokomis playground is absolutely amazing! Between the slide, the netting and the bars, your kids will love this cool structure!

4. The Litchfield Community Built Playground is a team-built masterpiece in a great park for the whole family.

5. The Hyland Lake Park Reserve Play Area is one of the coolest playgrounds around and a favorite among decades of Minnesotans.

6. French Regional Park in Plymouth has a super cool playground with nets to climb on!

7. In Stillwater, Teddy Bear Park has an amazing playground, and we can't forget the larger than life teddy bears, every kid's dream!

9. Playfront Park in Duluth is Duluth's largest playground. It has this amazing new structure that, besides being super cool to play on, actually enhances balance, coordination and strength!
