You won't find the best ribeye steak in the Land of 10,000 Lakes at a Twin Cities steakhouse or a North Shore destination restaurant. I would argue that one of the very best ribeyes in the state is at a hidden gem supper club in Minnesota, outside Pequot Lakes on curvy Crow Wing County Hwy. 39. All you need to do is try it, and I'm sure you'll agree.
Norway Ridge Supper Club is a Brainerd Lakes area institution, but given its rural location, it's a bit of a hidden gem, as well.
If you're not looking for it, chances are you won't find the supper club just passing through the area.
In business since 1948, Norway Ridge is just the kind of classic, Midwestern supper club that you'd hope to find on a trip Up North.
It's tucked above the shores of Kimble Lake and surrounded by mature trees.
The interior has plenty of windows, so you can enjoy the restaurant's lovely, natural setting.
But it's also got the warm, knotty-pine lodge feel that offers the perfect ambiance for an Up North supper club.
Norway Ridge's clubby bar serves up a deep selection of generously-sized, classic cocktails, along with plenty of beers and wines to choose from.
The skilled bartenders make a mean old fashioned, which is my go to beverage at Norway Ridge.
It's the perfect preparation for the supper club's savory steak. And the 14-ounce blackened ribeye at Norway Ridge Supper Club is one of the best steaks I've had in Minnesota.
One of the only ribeyes I've had that outdoes the blackened 14-ouncer on Norway Ridge's menu is the supper club's own occasional ribeye special.
Like this 22-ounce, Frenched, bone-in beast: all juicy and meaty goodness.
And no matter what you order, be sure to order it with the au gratin potatoes. You cannot go wrong with those tasty taters! Chances are, as good as it is, most folks aren't heading Up North just for dinner at Norway Ridge Supper Club. You're up here for a little vacation, and if you're looking for a vacation rental in the Pequot Lakes area, there are plenty to choose from. I really like this charming Lake O'Brien cabin rental, myself - and it's not far from Norway Ridge!
