5 Perfect Places To Kayak And Canoe Around Detroit This Summer
You don’t have to travel Up North to experience fun outdoor activities like kayaking or canoeing. In fact, you can do it all right here in Detroit! Check out these five places to kayak and canoe this summer and see the city in a whole new way!
1. Detroit River Sports
Detroit River Sports offers amazing guided tours of Detroit's canals, Belle Isle and Lake St. Clair. You're welcome to book a private tour or purchase season passes. Some of the tours include kayaking during sunset - where you can witness the changing colors of the sky, and a morning canal tour - where you'd be guided from Fisher Mansion to Harbor Island. 2. Riverside Kayak Connection
The Riverside Kayak Connection is located in Wyandotte and offers tours for beginners to expert kayakers. The most popular tour is the Detroit to Wyandotte Tour, which lets you paddle down the Detroit River from Belle Isle Park in Detroit to Wyandotte. Other tours include the Detroit Historical Canal Tour, the Belle Isle Lagoon Tour and the Detroit Full Moon Tour. You'll see the Detroit skyline like you've never seen it before. 3. Stony Creek Metropark
Rent a kayak or a canoe for breathtaking views of Stony Creek Metropark. The park is over 4,000 acres with a beautiful lake snuggled right in the center. For only $8.00 you can rent a kayak for one hour and explore the great outdoors. There are tons of other activities you and your friends can enjoy as well, including, biking trails, boat rentals, disc golf, fishing and paddle boarding! 4. River Raisin Canoe Livery
River Raisin Canoe Livery is located just south of Detroit and offers visitors the chance to canoe, kayak and paddleboard down the River Raisin. You are also welcome to rent a pontoon boat and see all of the amazing wildlife and greenery that surrounds you. The canoe livery has hourly rentals as well as all day rentals that last for approximately 7 1/2 hours. It is located at 1151 Plank Road, Dundee, MI 48131.
5. Argo Canoe Livery
Kayak or canoe on the Huron River in the city of Ann Arbor and take in the stunning views of the waterway and the wilderness around you. The paddle down the river is quite calm with a few riffles here and there. The canoe livery has hundreds of boats so no reservations are needed! It is located at 1055 Longshore Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
