The Oldest Restaurant On Massachusetts’ Cape Cod Is A Culinary Masterpiece
Skipper Chowder House, one of the oldest restaurants on Cape Cod, offers award-winning chowder and fresh seafood with stunning waterfront views.
The Bay State is known for having exceptional cuisine, especially when it comes down to seafood. With nearly 200 miles of coastline and access to bays and the ocean, fresh fish restaurants are abundant. Head to Cape Cod and you'll find seafood shacks and restaurants on just about any corner. But there is one restaurant that has stood the test of time. As the oldest restaurant on Cape Cod (or at least one of the oldest), Skipper Chowder House has served fresh fish dishes and chowder since 1936.
Head to Shore Drive in South Yarmouth where you'll find Skipper Chowder House. This waterfront seafood restaurant is among the oldest on Cape Cod.
Dine with a view! Ask for a table by the window or a seat outside with stunning views of Nantucket Sound.
While the age of a restaurant isn't always a determining factor of the quality of the food, it is actually the case here. Patrons can enjoy some of the freshest fish dishes around at the Skipper.
It may come as no surprise that Skipper Chowder House is known for its chowder. In fact, the restaurant's chowder has won several awards and has been featured in numerous national publications.
Customers also rave about the lobster rolls. You can order one with either four or six ounces of lobster salad or one with fresh lobster served with hot butter. Yum!
But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Yellowfin tuna, scallops, salmon, scrod, and a variety of raw bar options are all available.
We bet you've never seen a Bloody Mary quite like this before! Skipper's Ultimate Bloody Mary is garnished with a variety of delicious items like bacon-wrapped scallops, a mini cheeseburger, bacon, etc. It's a meal in itself.
