It is interesting that those landmarks influenced the park's name, rather than the World War II seacoast battery bunker, a coastal fortification that reminds us of the prevalence u-boats once had in this area.

During the WWII era, this spot was known as Cape Elizabeth Military Reservation... and, interestingly, it was never actually armed.

Today, peace continues to reign in the park, and visitors enjoy its nearly two miles of paths and walking trails.

And as visitors hike along the rocky coast, they have an opportunity to discover all sorts of rich examples of local life.
