Maine is home to many beautiful and stunning outdoor locations and attractions, but when the weather is right, nothing sounds better than spending the day at a natural pool! Near Fryeburg, Maine, Blueberry Mountain is located in Evans Notch, and with a short 2.5-mile round-trip hike, Rattlesnake Pool is an amazing pool with crystal clear water. The pool also features a waterfall and is surrounded by beautiful green forest.
With its clear sapphire-blue waters, Rattlesnake Pool could be the best end-of-hike reward in all of Maine! You'll begin your hike walking through open fields before traveling into the woods where Rattlesnake Pool can be found.
Off of Route 113 in Gilead, roads will only get you so close to Rattlesnake Pool. After parking on Shell Pond Road, follow the signs and marked path all the way to the pool.
While Rattlesnake Pool is tucked away and requires just under 1.5 miles of hiking to get to, it is well worth it! The pool is beautiful and some daring individuals will even slide down the waterfall!
Dogs are also welcome on the trail and are sure to enjoy the scenery, forest, and pool just as much as you. Just remember that all dogs must be kept on leash.
Remember, Rattlesnake Pool gets its water from an underground spring. This means that the water in the pool is always cold, and while refreshing in the summer, remember to bring a towel!
You now have the perfect place to cool down when the weather is hot. Have you been to Evans Notch or Rattlesnake Pool? Did you even know this amazing pool could be found here? Let us know what your favorite part of the hike or day at the pool was.
