This Tiny Restaurant In Maine Always Has A Line Out The Door, And There’s A Reason Why
We only get a very small window for summer here in Maine, so when the sun is out, we go outside. We make the absolute most of the warmer weather and with so many places to go to enjoy, we’re pretty busy. So when it is time to soak up as much sunlight as possible, a popular place is found on the soft sands of Old Orchard Beach. Lying around all day in the heat can really work up an appetite and luckily Ken’s Place in Scarborough, Maine, is waiting for you with some delicious seafood.
Ken’s Place is everything you could want in a seafood place in Maine. This restaurant has been in operation since 1927 so you know you are in good hands with a place that has honed its craft for almost 100 years.
Crowds will wait in long lines because the reward is worth it for those who wait. The good news? The food is quick and easy so the wait never takes as long as you would think. Just because the food is ready fast does not mean there is any lack of quality. Being close to the ocean, Ken’s receives fresh seafood for their guests.
Once you order at the window you can sit inside or outside.
The seating is pretty typical to most seafood restaurants in Maine, and you will find picnic tables to enjoy your meal. We love this because it allows us to bring along our family and friends and share some of our favorite seafood choices.
Speaking of choices, you will have lots of them at Ken’s Place. You can’t go wrong with just about anything from the menu, but sometimes, the day just calls for a good old fashion clam bake.
If you prefer your clams fried you can do that too, alongside other fired options like haddock, shrimp, and scallops. The fried seafood gets piled high on your plate is a mouthwatering feast.
On a chillier day, a warm chowder is the way to go. Don’t let the rain stop you from digging into the seafood at Ken’s because their homemade lobster stew and clam chowder are excellent choices.
Like most seafood restaurants in the state, Ken’s Place in Scarborough, Maine is seasonal. So when the temperatures start to rise and summer is finally upon us, make sure to head to this amazing seafood shack and join the lines because the wait is worth it. Make sure to follow them on the Ken’s Place Facebook page to keep up to date when they open for the season.
If you happen to find yourself in Old Orchard then you should stop by Fielder’s Choice in town for some of the best ice cream you have ever had.
