The Most Comforting Food In Maine Is The Grilled Cheese Served At This New Cafe

If there ever was a food that we go to when we need something good, easy and fun it’s grilled cheese. Many of us have memories of eating one on a cold, snowy day. Sometimes with a side of tomato soup. Whatever we had alongside it, the gooey goodness was always the star and that’s why we’re so excited that a shop dedicated to our favorite childhood food has opened in Portland’s Old Port!

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:

Cheese Louise is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 midnight. You can learn more about them and check out the menu by visiting their website or following them on Facebook. They can be reached at 207-536-0257. And if you find yourself in New Hampshire, they’ve got two locations there. You can find those locations on the same website.

Looking for something that feels a little more quintessentially New England? We’ve got a great option! You can eat fresh-caught lobster overlooking the bay at this Maine general store and restaurant.
