And, even before that, this tiny fish market was packing a big punch. Located on the working waterfront in Portland, if you’re in the market for fresh fish to cook the same day you’re in luck!
The Harbor Fish Market is located at 9 Custom House Wharf, which has been a fish market in some capacity since the late 1800s.
Originally run by two brothers, the fish market was then past to a son, who past it along to his three sons. The brothers have been running the show with some major expansions since then.
Easy! They not only sell fish, they know the ins and outs of what makes this the best fish. As the seafood restaurant scene began to grow, each establishment needed a way to attract their own customers.
Harbor Fish Market knew more about exotic varieties than other fish purveyors, allowing them to sell to more restaurants that came back again and again.
Harbor Fish Market is located at 9 Custom House Wharf, Portland, Maine.
