If you raised your hand for any of those, this article is for you. We’ve rounded up some of the best restaurants in Maine offering a free meal if you can succeed in some food-related challenges. Whether it’s finishing a gigantic burger or eating the most wings, these restaurants will reward you for your hard work!
1. White Wolf Inn, Stratton
The Wolf Burger comes with a huge beef patty and a layer of sausage, bacon, mushrooms, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup. If you can finish it, you'll earn yourself a little flag (actually it comes with the burger to give you that added encouragement) that says, "I Conquered The Wolf Burger." 2. The Freedom Cafe & Pub, Naples
Head to Naples if you love burgers. Specifically, giant burgers! If you can finish the Triple Bypass Burger, which comes with 3 half-pound angus beef patties, 6 slices of premium bacon, 6 slices of cheese, all the fixings PLUS a side of chili cheese fries, you'll earn yourself a free t-shirt. 3. Appalachian Trail Cafe, Millinocket
The Appalachian Trail Cafe is a must try after you've tackled the AT or Katahdin. Replenish your calories by digging into the epic Trail Burger, complete with a quarter pound of beef and topped with onion rings, BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese. For the actual challenge, check out the Summit Sundae challenge. Finish it and you'll get to add your name to the list of champs and go home with a t-shirt, bumper sticker and the bowl! 4. Jimmy the Greek's, Old Orchard Beach
If you love calzone's take the King Leonidas Calzone Challenge. This giant calzone is more than five pounds of dough filled with pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, tomatoes, onions, sauce and cheese. 5. Montsweag Roadhouse, Montsweag
Winning the Montsweag Burger Challenge means finishing the Surf & Turf Burger, Whole Farm Burger and Poutine Burger along with an order of Fried Onion Crisps, a Route 1 Pile Up Dessert and a Roadhouse Root Beer. 6. Sylvia's Cafe, Ellsworth
If breakfast is your favorite meal of the day, try your hand at The Hibernator. This mega breakfast comes with a stack of buttermilk pancakes topped with three scrambled eggs with vegetables, ham, sausage or bacon and cheddar cheese and home fries. PLUS corned beef hash for good measure. But it doesn't end there! You also must finish two extra eggs, a side of bacon, ham and sausage as well as a biscuit. 7. Binga's Wingas, Yarmouth
Beating this 6 pound challenge will take a true meat-lover. You'll need to eat a 5 pound mountain of meat that includes chicken tenders, smoked wings, pulled pork, brisket and whatever else the restaurant feels like piling on top. Once you tackle that, you'll still need to conquer one pound of french fries. Do that in 30 minutes and you'll get the meal for free plus your photo on the wall of fame.
