This Ramshackle Building Hiding In Louisiana Serves The Best Seafood Around
It’s true what they say: sometimes the best things are found off the beaten path. Sure, there are endless seafood restaurants in Louisiana where you could have a delicious meal, but few have the rustic charm and nostalgic atmosphere that this particular restaurant has. It may be a little out of the way, but your efforts will be rewarded. Let’s check it out.
But looks can be deceiving. It’s only about a 25 minute from Baton Rouge and worth the trip to get here.
The structure dates back to the 1850s and served as the J.J. LaPlace & Sons General Store for many years, and the restaurant has maintained many elements of the building’s history.
Roberto's may look like a ramshackle building from the outside, but the inside exudes rustic vibes in an elegant yet familiar setting.
There’s even a wonderful kids menu, complete with vanilla ice cream.
Served in a French boule, this tasty appetizer is stuffed with sautéed shrimp, garlic, red onions, and bell peppers in a spicy brandy butter. It’s so good that we’ll understand if you don’t want to share with the table.
Pictured above is the Catfish Billy, one of the more popular dishes. You can choose between fried or grilled catfish and it’s topped with delicious crawfish étouffée - all over a bed of rice. Yum!
The King Cake Bread Pudding is a seasonal treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
The restaurant is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or drop in for dinner on Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Fridays & Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
