The Remote Cabin Restaurant Just Outside of New Orleans That Serves Up The Most Delicious Food
There’s a wonderfully rustic restaurant just a short drive from New Orleans that you absolutely need to check out. Steeped in history, The Cabin has been serving up delicious, home-cooked meals in a unique space since 1973. Let’s check it out.
If you’re looking to dine among Louisiana history, then you have to check out The Cabin.
You’ll find The Cabin tucked away on Highway 44 in Gonzales.
The restaurant began as one of ten original slave quarters on the Monroe Plantation.
The building is approximately 180 years old, and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another time when you walk in.
Along with the original architecture, you’ll notice that they’ve tried to preserve history in as many ways as possible.
From the original cypress roof to the newspapers fixed to the walls with a flour and water mixture, everything about this place will take you back in time.
Inside the restaurant there are hundreds of antique artifacts and tools from years past.
You'll feel like you're dining in a museum.
The menu features home-cooked Cajun, Creole, and Southern fare.
Known for their po’boys, you’ve simply got to try one.
Served on toasted Leidenheimer bread, of course.
They’re also serving classics like red beans & rice, country fried steak, and juicy burgers.
There's something for everyone on the menu.
Their brunch menu is off the charts.
We all know brunch is the best meal of the day. Chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, oh and did we mention boudin & beignets? You can find them all here at The Cabin.
So make the drive to visit The Cabin.
Not only is the food out of this world, but you'll be surrounded by Louisiana history.
You can find The Cabin at
5405 Highway 44, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737.
