Are you searching for a unique hike in the Pelican State? Check out Tims Canyon Trail in Louisiana. The hike to the canyon is an incredible adventure!

Are you ready for a unique Louisiana hiking adventure inside the Kisatchie National Forest? If you love exploring new hiking trails, then you’ve got to lace up your boots and check out Tims Canyon Trail in Louisiana. This primitive trail near Alexandria is unlike any other trail. Usually, Louisiana’s hiking trails will lead you through the wetlands, but not this one. This off-the-beaten-path hiking trail takes you to a very unique canyon, making it one of the best hikes in Louisiana!

The Kisatchie National Forest is full of unique hiking trails, and the Tims Canyon Trail is a perfect example. It’s so well hidden that it's not even labeled on Google Maps. The trailhead is located right by the Ahtus Melder Campground, so if you plug that into your GPS, you’ll find it with ease. The out-and-back trail clocks in at around 2.5 miles, and it should take about an hour to complete. Of course, plan to spend more time here enjoying the pretty scenery.

Since this is a primitive trail deep in the woods, make sure you’re wearing the proper hiking footwear (boots or sneakers, no flip-flops). This is one trail you'll want to plan ahead for. The canyon can get pretty muddy after a heavy rainfall!

And then it'll feel like you're walking through quicksand. As you can see here, this isn't your average trail! It's certainly not typical of Louisiana hiking trails, and that's what makes it so special. The red clay against the sandy trail really stands out. It's an incredibly peaceful trail, too. You might just find that you have it all to yourself! Just you and the symphony of sounds from the songbirds up above.

The best time to hike this trail is during the spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. But it's open all year round for extra adventure. Bring the kids and the dogs on this trek; just make sure the pup stays on its leash. With its unique canyon and beautiful natural scenery, I guarantee you'll love this family-friendly Louisiana hiking trail.

While you're in the area, you may want to tackle some other trails in the Kisatchie National Forest, and there are plenty to choose from! Also, Hayes E. Daze Ranch is right up the road, and this awesome spot lets you take to the trails on horseback! Tims Canyon Trail in Louisiana is not the only adventurous hiking trail in Louisiana.
