Located just 30 miles north of Baton Rouge, St. Francisville is s sleepy little town that’s just overflowing with charm. Nestled along the Mississippi River, this historic town appeals to both history lovers and nature lovers alike, and it’s a wonderful town to spend a day exploring. Here are some of our favorite things to do in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

Home to fewer than 2,000 residents, it’s safe to say that life just moves a bit slower in this West Feliciana Parish town.

One of Louisiana’s oldest protestant churches, the church was constructed in 1860. Three years after it was built, it took some serious damage during the Civil War and was repaired in 1893. Be sure to check out the organ during your visit - it dates back to 1860!
Take advantage of this picturesque town by visiting one of the many gardens and natural areas, like Afton Villa Gardens.

The gardens have a special place in St. Francisville’s heart. Originally, there was a house here that dated back to 1849, but unfortunately, it burned down in 1963. The land sat abandoned and neglected for about a decade until Genevieve Trimble, who often admired the property from a distance on her drive from New Orleans to Natchez, decided to do something about it.

Today, Afton Villa Gardens features 25 acres of picture-perfect gardens that’s a dreamy spot to stroll around on a beautiful afternoon.
The Myrtles Plantation is perhaps the most famous landmark, and one of the most popular things to do in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

Known as "the most haunted plantation in the United States," countless paranormal teams have conducted investigations here and have all concluded that there are spirits that remain on the grounds. The most famous ghost that's most commonly seen is Chloe, but many believe that there are several others.
All of this exploring is bound to work up an appetite, and our favorite spot to grab some grub is the Magnolia Cafe.
