Bowman Field was established nearly a century ago!
Did you know that Bowman Field was Kentucky's first commercial airport and the oldest continually-operating commercial airfield in North America? Abram H. Bowman first began making plans for the airport with World War I Air Force Veteran Robert Gast in 1919 and leased a parcel of land for the airport that same year. This airport played a vital role in World War II as a training base; over 1,000 troops came to train here! Architects used an Art Deco style when constructing the administration building in 1929, which is where Bistro Le Relais is now located.
