The Mega Cavern in Louisville may look innocuous on the outside, but it's hiding an amazing holiday secret.

This former limestone mine now has many purposes, including tourism. Besides the annual Christmas lights display, the mine also offers zip lining, a rope obstacle course, tram tours, and a mountain bike park. Around Christmas time, the cavern lights up. Lights Under Louisville is one of the most popular holiday attractions in the city. You drive your own car through the 17 miles of glowing underground tunnels, and the tour takes about 30 minutes.

Upon entering, you will be dazzled by over three million points of light. You'll also discover over 850 different light displays, including some Kentucky icons. It is the only fully underground, drive-through Christmas light show in the world.

This is a great event to take kids to or have a romantic but unique date night as you drive through tunnels of lights. Every display is different, from classic winter scenes to holiday nostalgia, your family's favorite characters, and whimsical creations. Others might even make you reminisce about warmer times!
