Take An Easy Out-And-Back Trail To Enter Another World At Chimney Rock In Kentucky
While many of Kentucky’s most scenic places are hidden deep in the woods, there are also some spots that are easily accessible. Our state offers roadside overlooks where you barely have to get out of your car, but there are also short trails that lead to the most awe-inspiring views. Located in Red River Gorge, the Chimney Top Trail (also known as Chimney Rock), is an easy trail in Kentucky that takes you out to an overlook and then back to reality. You’ll feel as if you’ve entered another world, or at least like you’re on top of it, while exploring this easy trail in Kentucky.
If you drive around the Red River Gorge area, you'll come across many of these signs, pointing you to scenic hiking trails.
A tunnel of trees will guide you along a 5-mile stretch of road that is actually much longer than the trail itself. But the isolated feel and relaxing atmosphere only add to the experience.
You'll reach a parking lot and from there can easily locate the trailhead.
Trail #235 is only just over half a mile long total, out and back. It is mostly paved and with little to no elevation changes. While easy to traverse, keep in mind it is still on top of a ridge, so exercise caution, especially along the edges of the trail.
While you walk along the wide path, take your time and look for glimpses of the views beyond.
