Are you anxiously waiting for your acceptance letter from Hogwarts? Dreaming of boarding at a wizarding school is pretty fun, but you don't have to dream: we've got a great castle right here in Kansas! Kansas State University is filled with history and culture. The campus has many historic buildings that are quite lovely, but if you ask us, one stands above the rest. Hale Library is a 400,000-square-foot architectural masterpiece that just so happens to greatly resemble Hogwarts in Kansas.

Kansas State University opened in 1863, so it is no surprise that you'll find lots of beautiful historic buildings here. One of the most remarkable is the Hale Library, the campus's main library.

The library originally opened in 1927 and was named Campus Library. Two additions were later added in 1955 and 1970 to alleviate overcrowding.

Hale Library has five floors and a basement, making it the largest building on campus. It's an impressive 400,000 square feet.

This is one place in Kansas that you really have to see in person to appreciate.

It certainly resembles a castle from the outside. BBN Architects is the firm that designed the most recent addition to Hale Library, completed in 1997. Thanks to this team of designers, we have the "castle"-like structure we see today!

...but it's when you get inside that you really see the resemblance! The library's Great Room study area looks just like the dining area at Hogwarts.

The Great Room features a mural completed in 1934 by famed Kansas artist David Hicks Overmyer.

The architectural details are so stunning!

You might not expect to find Harry Potter in Kansas, and while you might not find the famed character here, you will find something just as good - a destination that looks like it belongs in a Harry Potter book.

The fact that Hale Library stands out on a campus as pretty as Kansas State's tells you that this Hogwarts-esque building is really something special.
