Situated within O'Bannon Woods State Park is a marvelous attraction that all nature lovers need to see and explore. The Wyandotte Caves are known as the fifth-largest caves in the state.

Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972, the two limestone caves are situated along the Ohio River and are home to bats, fish, salamanders, and many other critters.

Wyandotte Cave tours are given on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and cost $8 for the Little Wyandotte Cave and $18 for the Big Wyandotte Cave. The first tour is 30 minutes while the second lasts up to two hours.

The temperature of the caves hovers around 52 degrees, so guests are encouraged to bring a jacket. These amazing pockets beneath the earth were created eons ago when shallow water used to cover the land that is now the Hoosier State.

The entrance to the main cave is 200 feet long. Archaeologists believe Native Americans mined the caves to use the resources for tools and jewelry.

Little Wyandotte Cave is also known as Siberts Cave or the "New Cave" while the Big Wyandotte Cave is known as the "Historic Cave."

Nature lovers can't resist touring Wyandotte Caves and getting a look at both the small and big caverns that reside within this state park.
