If you want to get outside and watch autumn arriving, you need to hike the easy Mount Summit Trail in New Castle, Indiana. This wonderful trail takes you through fields of wildflowers and towering trees. Spend an afternoon or evening soaking in the beauty that this lovely park has to offer!
In Summit Lake State Park, there’s a gorgeous trail that will take you through a wildflower meadow and bring you all the way to Summit Lake Reservoir.
This easy trail is a wonderful one to take in autumn so you can see the colors emerge throughout the area. Watch the leaves on the flowers and trees change.
This kid-friendly hike is studded with local wildflowers.
The loop travels half its length along the waterfront. The other half traverses through the fields, meadows, and forest.
The entire hike is only 2.5 miles.
It’s flat, with a minimal elevation gain. You’ll only climb 55 feet throughout the entire trail.
It’s very sunny on the northern part of the trail on clear days.
Bring a hat and sunscreen in case it’s hot, because there isn’t much shade to hide in. There’s a small forested and marshy section that does provide some relief.
The grassy trails are easy to follow and wide.
You’ll spot waterfowl, butterflies, and bees buzzing around. This is a great area for a relaxing stroll through some of Indiana’s prettiest countryside.
This is a wonderful place to relax and soak in the beauty around you.
There’s a $7.00 parking fee, but it’s worth every penny. You’ll find it easy enough for all skill levels to hike and enjoy themselves.
