Everyone In Indiana Absolutely Loves These 12 Foods And Drinks
When it comes to food, Indiana really knows what it LOVES. Chances are, you will love at least one of these Indiana favorites. The following are the top 12 food and drink choices from the Hoosier state. Come in, sit down and get ready to enjoy the view!
1. Sun Brewed Tea with Lemon
Here in Indiana, we love our sun tea. I really couldn't count how many times I came home to sun tea brewing on the front porch. It was always on the porch in the sunlight. Bring it inside, add some ice, plus lemons equals perfection.
2. Big Red Soda
There is nothing like an ice cold Big Red Soda to cure a sweet tooth.
3. Buttered Corn on the Cob
Add more butter please...
4. Fried Potatoes and Onions
Pan fried, crispy potatoes with a hint of fried onions, cooked in butter, maybe some ketchup?
5. Canned, Fried or even Candied Pickles
I can resist a can of homemade pickles...said no Hoosier, ever.
6. Big Hearty Chili
Who hasn't attended a chili cook-off in this state? Chili dogs, bowls of chili or chili fries?
7. Sink Pizza
I want a Sink Pizza, everything thrown in here but the kitchen sink.
8. BBQ with Mac n Cheese
What about mac 'n cheese with BBQ pork on top? This has gained popularity in the last couple years and my prediction says it should keep growing.
9. Huge Epic Tenderloins
Get these around Indiana's state borders or in small cities.
10. Hand battered country fried steak with mashed potatoes and black pepper gravy. Served with sweet corn on the cob and garlic toast.
Oh my, fried steak with gravy. Pass the plate...
11. Sugar Cream Pie
Sugar plus cream equals heaven says everyone that lives in this state. As Indiana's state pie, this is a must try. Please don't forget the nutmeg.
12. Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie
Did you know that rhubarb is a perennial? It comes back every year, so just buy and plant it once. This veggie was my Grandmother's favorite endless pairing to her strawberry pie.
Please let me know if I missed anything, I love reading your comments. Is there anything you really love on this Indiana list? Anything you would add?
