There’s nothing like taking a road trip in autumn to see all the fall foliage, but if you’ve only got time to do it in your state, check out this fall drive through Indiana that will charm your eyes out of their sockets. Don’t forget to bring your favorite camera for this adventure. Scroll on for more details.
Now is the perfect time of year to drive around the southern portion of Indiana and check out our finest forestry and state parks. This two-hour drive goes in a bit of a loop through the Hoosier National Forest.
Though not technically part of the Hoosier National Forest, Brown County State Park is more than 15,000 acres and full of incredible sights and fall foliage.
Your next stop, if you choose to go west, is Yellowwood State Forest, which is comprised of more than 23,000 acres. This is definitely the time of year to drive the roads around it or even get out and stretch your legs.
The next stop is not for a while and is the Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. After the road takes you over Lake Monroe, you'll find this lovely place not far from it.
Drive on by or plan to camp at this wonderful spot that is shaded by ancient hardwood trees.
The final stop on this fall foliage tour is the tiny and somewhat abandoned community of Story, Indiana that has little more than a vintage inn and a general store. It is certainly quite the view to drive through this unique town in autumn.
