Cataract Falls In Indiana Will Soon Be Surrounded By Beautiful Fall Colors

There’s nothing quite like fall in the Midwest, and here in Indiana, there are plenty of ways to embrace the season. If you’re looking for a picturesque way to view the beautiful fall colors, head to Lieber State Recreation Area in Owen County and lay your eyes upon the majestic Cataract Falls. Not only is this our largest waterfall by volume in the whole state, but it’s also one of the most incredible waterfalls to visit in the fall. While autumn might only last a few moments, you’ll want to make sure to take a visit to Cataract Falls in Indiana before all the beautiful fall leaves are gone.
Autumn is here in Indiana, and pretty soon Cataract Falls will be surrounded by the most breathtaking fall colors.
This picturesque waterfall is located in the Lieber State Recreation Area in Owen County.
While Cataract Falls might not be the tallest in our state, it is the largest by volume. In fact, it's broken up into the upper and lower falls, making for twice the magical experience.
The nearby Cataract Covered Bridge makes for a true fall experience.
There's nothing quite like exploring the Hoosier State during the fall, and our covered bridges add the perfect touch.
Cataract Falls is fed by Mill Creek, which is attached to Cagles Mill Lake.
This lake was Indiana's first man-made lake to help with flooding. The 1,400-acre lake is also breathtaking in the fall.
While visiting this gorgeous waterfall is a great activity any time of year, there's something special about seeing it surrounded by fall foliage.
Peak fall colors tend to hit Indiana in mid to late October, so plan your visit soon!
