During the winter, Illinois is a white-washed wasteland with absolutely no beauty. There's no point in visiting if you can't even get a good photo.

Everyone knows it's darker during winter, and it often seems like the sun never comes out December through March. It really makes for a gloomy winter visit.
3. There's no way to get around.

With all the snow we get in winter, roads become impassible. It's not safe to drive when it's icy out, which is much of the time here.
4. No one has fun.

This time of year, no one has a good time in Illinois. It's far to cold to go out, so we bum around inside all winter.
5. There's no color.

Again, Illinois is a bleak white wasteland during the winter, so why visit? All you'll see is white (and gray when the snow turns to mush).
6. You can't wear shorts and t-shirts.

No one wears shorts, sandals, and other summer attire this time of year. We all abandon our regular wardrobe for knit sweaters and boots.
7. No one goes outside.

A winter visit to Illinois may be a lonely one. No one ever goes outside this time of year. We all hole up in our houses and apartments and wait for the sun to shine again.
8. Everything is dead.

There's no sign of life when winter hits Illinois. All the greenery goes away and what was once singing with life is now suffocated by piles of frozen ice specs.
9. There's no way to stay active.

Since we all stay inside, we don't get any exercise. There's absolutely nothing to do here during winter that makes it worth visiting.
10. All the wildlife is gone.

You can't find any critters here during winter either. They all migrate or hibernate to escape the terrible cold.
11. There's nothing to do.

No matter where you try to go on your winter visit to Illinois, you'll be left empty handed. Our great state is not so magnificent this time of year, and you'll just be bored if you come.
