It’ll be spring soon in Illinois, and that means we all have to get over that transition from winter to warmer weather. The ground (and your bones) finally start to thaw and fresh air starts smelling fresher.
It’s that time of year when Illinoisans have these 12 universal thoughts about this winter-spring cusp. Check them out:
As winter ends and we get into spring, the sun starts to stay up later in the evening. Gone are the days of going to work and coming home from work in the dark.
You might think this thought a couple times as we transition into spring. Winter isn't always ready to let go, and especially in the northern part of the state, you can see snow even into April.

With it being spring soon, you might also be looking forward to summer. Now is the perfect time to start toning up and getting those last few holiday pounds off.
Approaching spring puts you in that awkward place where you don't always know what to wear. Should you opt for the lighter coat? What if it gets cold later in the day? So many things to think about!
Of course, there are those who see that it is spring and think they can wear whatever they want. Or, you might go outside and realize you didn't need a coat in the first place. Either way, we're all loving this thought.
If it's not Uggs, it might be your favorite scarf or jacket. Soon, those cold weather clothes can be put up until next season.
Unfortunately, this time of year isn't Illinois' best when it comes to looks. Winter has killed everything, and the land is waiting in limbo for spring to fully catch on and bring back life and greenery.

As soon as people in Illinois realize it'll be spring soon, they start gearing up for the great outdoors. We can't wait to get back on our bikes and hit up all our wonderful nature preserves and trails.
The weather can be a bit unpredictable, and many Illinoisans may be unsure when to start planting. There are some plants that can't get too frosty, so if you plant them before the last snow, they may not survive.
If you are in school, this is likely the thought consuming your mind this time of year. Tradition has most people hitting up parties on the beach, though there are many who also volunteer their time.
If you've left school and joined the workforce, you might be counting down the days until your vacation. If you haven't planned it yet, now is the time.
It's just around the corner. It'll soon be spring, and that means baseball season. Die-hard fans will buy up their tickets ahead of time, so hurry and get passes for your favorite team right away.
