The Stunning Airbnb In Illinois With A Basement That Used To Be A Bavarian Brew House

This Airbnb, the Bavarian Brew House, has been fully restored, giving it all the modern-day amenities your heart desires, while retaining its yesteryear charm. And, it even has its own tavern in the cellar!

The Bavarian Brew House, in Galena, was built in 1842 by brewer Peter Specht from Bavaria. He ran his brewery out of the cellar.

Out front, you may notice the hitching post and large rock - they were used to assist passengers exiting horse-drawn carriages. What is now the garage used to be a summer kitchen, so as not to overheat the main house, and it still contains the fireplace and bread warming oven. Now you can charge your electric car instead - the times, they are a-changing!

The modern full kitchen even offers a couch for cozy conversations during meal preparations.

There is also a dining room and a half bathroom on the first floor, and a washer and dryer, too. Enjoy central air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and Netflix.

The woodwork, wooden floors, and staircase are original to the house. The floors are more than 175 years old and hot-water heated.

There are three bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, a full bathroom, and a smart TV.

The master bathroom has a massaging shower and a heated towel rack for an oh-so-warm towel when you step out of the shower.

The second bedroom also sports a king-size bed. French doors allow you to connect the space to the third bedroom if you really want to stretch out and relax.

The third bedroom features a queen-size bed and a gas fireplace.

The second and third bedrooms share the full bathroom in the hallway.

Now for the very most intriguing part about this Airbnb! In the basement, you will delight in the onsite tavern that's been recreated to be just like the original Bavarian Brew House that hosted patrons in the 1800s.

There is a bar and a shuffleboard setup, all at your disposal. Note, the bar doesn’t dispense drinks - just bring your own!
