The Most Remote State Park In Idaho Is The Perfect Place To Escape

With dozens of state parks in Idaho to explore, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and have an adventure. While some of these state parks are quite busy, there are some remote state parks in Idaho where the crowds are few and the adventures are plentiful. Dworshak State Park in northern Idaho is one of these remote state parks in Idaho that has become the perfect place to escape. With camping, boating, fishing, swimming, and so many other opportunities, it’s one destination you’ll love to visit.

Dworshak State Park is located along the western shore of Dworshak Reservoir. You will find this beautiful body of water in Clearwater County, just northwest of Orofino.

Dworshak State Park is known for its incredible beauty. It is not only located right along the river but it is also surrounded by gorgeous forests and mountains. It’s easy to feel tucked away and far from your daily stresses and worries.

For time outdoors and on the water, this state park is hard to beat. It is a delightful place for both boating and fishing.

Plus, you’ll want to check out the Dworshak Dam. This dam is an impressive 717 feet tall and is one of the largest in America.

Pack your hiking boots as there are plenty of hiking trails in the area to explore including the easy Placid View Trail. This hike is less than one mile and considered quite easy, perfect for an afternoon adventure with the entire family.

There is also a disc golf course if you want to challenge friends or family or spend your time at the volleyball area, horseshoe pit, or playground.

You won’t need to rush when visiting this gorgeous state park as you can easily set up camp in one of the two campgrounds.

Freeman Creek Campground offers both standard and serviced campsites, including tent campsites that overlook the reservoir. Three Meadows Group Camp is designed for large groups and features many amenities including cabins for up to 100 campers, a commercial kitchen, dedicated dock, and more.

Dworshak State Park may require a bit of a drive to visit, but it’s well worth it. You’ll enjoy beautiful views, plenty of time on the water, camping opportunities, and so much more. It’s the perfect place to escape.
