You’d Never Know One Of The Most Incredible Natural Wonders In Idaho Is Hiding In This Tiny Park
Idaho is home to numerous natural wonders. While many of these are quite well-known, like Shoshone Falls and Balanced Rock, there are others that are tucked away and lesser known. Devil’s Washbowl is one of the lesser-known natural wonders in Idaho that is absolutely spectacular. Found in Malad Gorge State Park, this incredible waterfall is one natural wonder that you’ll want to view at least once.
Thousand Springs State Park is one of the most unique and beautiful state parks in Idaho. It consists of six smaller units, one of which is Malad Gorge State Park.
In this 451-acre state park, you’ll capture incredible views of the 250-foot Malad Gorge. The Snake River winds through the gorge, creating a mesmerizing view.
While this waterfall is beautiful all year long, spring is the best time for viewing it as water roars out of the gorge, creating quite a remarkable sight.
To best view this incredible wonder, there is a 175-foot bridge that takes you over the Malad Gorge. From one side, you can see the waterfall, and on the other, you can capture incredible views of Malad Gorge.
Even better, you don’t have to go out of your way to stop at this state park and view the Devil’s Washbowl. This state park is actually located right along (and under!) I-84 on your way to Twin Falls. In fact, the bridge is so close to the freeway that you may need to crop unwanted vehicles out of your images.
After you have captured remarkable views of the Devil’s Washbowl, spend some time hiking and picnicking at this state park. Malad Gorge State Park may not be large, but it certainly has gems worth discovering.
Have you spent time at Malad Gorge State Park? Have you viewed the Devil’s Washbowl? We’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments. You can learn even more about this state park on the Idaho Parks and Recreation website.
