Idaho is home to quite a selection of unique attractions and museums. However, located in the town of Pocatello is one of the most unusual and fascinating of them all: the Museum of Clean. Just as the name suggests, this museum focuses on all-things clean – how to be clean, the value of clean, and more. From start to finish, this is one museum that will not only capture your attention but will leave you inspired as well.
This museum was founded by well-known cleaning expert Don Aslett, and it is no small museum. In fact, it's housed in a 75,000-square-foot building that is packed with exhibits, displays, and hands-on activities that may change the way you think about the word “clean.”
Plan to spend at least two hours exploring this museum. If you love history, art, and interesting facts, you’ll want to spend much longer here.
The Museum of Clean is different than many others in the state as it focuses on something that affects every aspect of our lives — cleaning. Not only will you find exhibits and displays about cleaning homes and our various environments, but there are areas of this museum where you will learn all about cleaning the world, cleaning the community, cleaning your mind, and more.
This is one museum that both adults and children alike will love to explore. With all of the hands-on exhibits, there is plenty to keep little hands busy and minds engaged.
One of the most popular attractions is the collection of historic vacuums. This is the world’s largest collection of vacuum cleaning devices and it’s fascinating to see how technology has changed over the years.
If you are bringing young ones to the museum, you won’t want to skip Kid Planet. This area of the museum features all types of activities to teach important cleaning tasks like washing windows, making beds, sweeping, etc. It also helps children realize that these tasks can be fun.
You can even take a step back in time to an old English city to see what life was like as a chimney sweep. Make sure you take a turn cleaning a chimney!
Whether you're there to learn about cleaning or just want a unique day trip excursion, you’ll be impressed with the art gallery at this Idaho museum. It has more than 200 rare items that all relate to cleaning. From paintings to sculptures, there is something unique that will catch your eye.
The Museum of Clean in Pocatello is open Tuesday through Saturday. Ticket prices are based on age and family passes are available. You can learn more about this museum, including its admission prices, hours, and current exhibits on its website.
Have you been to the Museum of Clean? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience in the comments! And, if you are located in the northern part of the state and are looking for a unique museum to visit, check out the Priest Lake Museum, located in a charming historic cabin.
