Idaho is known for its large gorgeous lakes that span many miles and attract thousands of visitors every year. However, did you know that there are some beautiful lakes hidden around the Gem State where you can avoid the crowds, enjoy the water, and surround yourself with natural beauty? One of these hidden lakes in Idaho is Baker Lake. Tucked away in the Sawtooth National Forest and near Ketchum, this body of water is breathtaking, but to enjoy it, you’ll need to put forth a little effort.
Baker Lake is absolutely gorgeous any time of the year. However, to reach it, you’ll have to conquer a two-mile trail one way.
This out-and-back trail can be a bit of a challenge, particularly for young children and beginner hikers. You will climb approximately 900 feet in elevation.
This entire trail is beautiful and also very quiet. This trail and lake are typically not very crowded, particularly during the middle of the week or during the morning.
There are only a few spots along this trail where you will receive some shade. You’ll definitely want to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and a hat if tackling this trail during the summer.
