Whether it’s the specific memories of your childhood or certain habits that you’ve formed over the years, there’s no denying that Idaho has shaped the person you’ve become in some way or another. It's just one of those Idaho things. Our gun laws are pretty lax and hunting is big here. Even if you don't own one, you've definitely seen them and maybe even shot one before.

Buying a Christmas tree at a grocery store? Nonsense! Why would you do that when you can just go out into the woods and cut one down for yourself? This makes for a way more memorable experience anyway.
No matter what season it is or what the weather is like, a mountain getaway always sounds good to you. After all, you probably grew up taking ski lessons in the winter and exploring the hiking trails in the summer. Oh, and you can't even imagine what it would be like to live in a state that DOESN'T have mountains. That's just no way to live.

Although this cult classic is by no means an authentic portrayal of Idaho living, you still can't help but boast whenever it comes up in conversation. "Yeah, I've been to that town where they filmed the movie" or "My friend was an extra in the scene where Napoleon dances in auditorium".
Let's be real. Traffic isn't bad here. We may whine a little bit when the commute to work takes 20 minutes instead of 15 minutes, but you've never really been able to say "Sorry, I got stuck in traffic".
Families who settle down in Idaho tend to stay in Idaho and most of our communities are small towns. This means you probably grew up and graduated high school with the same bunch of kids. You also probably have a handful of friends you can literally say you've "known your entire life".

Here in Idaho, getting dirty isn't a bad thing—it's a way of life. You probably grew up playing in the mud and as an adult you enjoy doing the same in the form of outdoor recreation. If you get a little dirt under your fingernails, so be it. You know that the experience that comes with getting dirty is so worth it.
Most people who were born and raised in Idaho actually stay in Idaho for their adulthood as well. However, if you do move away to another state, you still always consider Idaho your true home. Oh, and you definitely plan on coming back some day.
