What Was Once A 160-Acre Farm Is Now An Idaho Park And It’s So Worth Exploring
One of the best things about living in Idaho is the fact that you can almost always find a place to immerse yourself in our state’s natural beauty. It doesn’t matter what part of the state you’re in, city or countryside, there are always beautiful places to explore. The stunning park featured here was actually once a 160-acre farm. Today, it’s open to the public to roam and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes that reside here. If you’re looking for a fun daytime adventure that isn’t too far off the road, this lovely farm park may just be for you.
Hiding just five miles north of Moscow is a gorgeous park that has remained one of Idaho's best-kept secrets. The 160-acre park is filled with and endless amount of open fields, forests, wetlands, and wildlife—exploring it is a must.
Virgil Phillips Farm County Park is a lovely park with a little bit of everything for everyone. Home to a variety of habitats and different types of native wildlife, it makes for a wonderful place to lose yourself for the day.
The park is comprised of property that used to belong to Virgil Phillips' farm. Phillips bequeathed the property to the city in 1972 so that the public could have a chance to enjoy this awe-inspiring region of North Idaho's famous Palouse.
Little remains of what used to be Virgil Phillips' farm, except for the old plum and apple trees that he had once nurtured. The pristine region almost looks like it's never been touched, with the exception of a few hiking trails and informative signs.
As you explore, you can't help but be entirely swept up in the park's peaceful beauty. The region is home to several ponds and streams, the sounds of which will fill your ears. There's something delightfully wild about this place. You almost can't believe a city is just a few miles away.
Visitors are welcome to see this lovely farm park for themselves all year-round, anytime between dawn and dusk. There's something for everyone and every age here, whether it be hiking and exploration to nature photography and birding. See what this little-known park has to offer soon.
