Cherry picking has become a quintessential summer activity here in Idaho, and it's an experience you definitely don't want to miss this year. Head on over to Kelley's Canyon Orchard near Filer for a summer outing you're bound to love!
This lovely family-owned farm knows what it takes to grow some of Idaho's most delicious fruit. Established in 1908, the farm is currently owned and operated by the "Kelley Girls" and they've been bringing delicious produce to the area for going on five generations.
The orchard and fruit stand are currently open for this year's season. Visitors are encouraged to stop by in between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day to pick up a big bag of cherries to-go or spend a few hours picking their own.
The farm is home to three different variations of cherries: Bing, Rainier, and Sour Montmorency. They are usually available throughout July, although they tend to get picked quickly! You'll want to be sure to stop by as soon as possible so you can get your hands on some.
Many families have made a tradition out of picking cherries at Kelley's Canyon Orchard in the summertime. There's no price to pick your own cherries, but you'll pay by the pound for what you end up with. U-Pick cherries are just $3.49 per pound.
If you're in a hurry or you simply don't feel like picking your own, you can always grab a pre-picked bag of Kelley's delicious cherries. Pro tip: grab a few bags and freeze some of them for eating later in the year!
