This Mouthwatering Ice Cream Trail In Hawaii Is All You’ve Ever Dreamed Of And More
Is there really anything better on a hot, summer day than a scoop of homemade ice cream? Sure, there’s shave ice, but sometimes you just need to satisfy a craving for creamy, delicious ice cream. So, in an attempt to showcase the best ice cream across the island of Oahu, we’ve created the ultimate weekend indulgence for you and your family or friends: a magnificent and mouthwatering ice cream trail.
Our itinerary starts in Kapolei and ends in Honolulu, but you can complete this epic ice cream trail backward or customize it around your weekend plans. Clocking in at three hours of drive time and nearly 100 miles, this mouthwatering trail will take you to eight of Oahu’s best ice cream shops. So, grab your best friends, pile in the car, and sample all of the delicious ice cream our fine island has to offer (Just a note: We suggest sharing ice cream at each stop amongst your friends, because I’m not sure anyone can realistically eat eight entire servings of ice cream in one day and not die from a sugar overdose…)
We begin our ice-cream filled day in Kapolei at none other than Island Shave Ice & Creamery.
The adorable shop serves up mouthwatering ice cream in a variety of unique flavors. The shop opens at 10 a.m., but if you need to kill some time, the lattes from the neighboring Kalapawai Cafe are delicious.
Next up, we have Dave's, a little cash-only shop that focuses on unique, local flavors like green tea, lychee sherbet, and coconut macadamia. A favorite among Hawaii locals for more than 30 years, Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream is an Oahu classic.
Made with with real ingredients at their other shop in Waialua, Scoop of Paradise was founded in 2005, and has been serving up mouthwatering ice cream flavors for more than a decade to locals and tourists alike on Oahu’s north shore. The speciality ice cream shop has created more than 50 unique flavors, but unfortunately can only keep so many varieties in their display case at one time - my personal favorite is the lilikoi cheesecake!

Found in a small Laie shopping center, Angel's Ice Cream is a nostalgic ice cream shop that not only make you feel as though you've stepped back in time, but might give you a headache trying to decide what to eat: You see, Angel's serves up ice cream, milkshakes,
dole whip, acai bowls,
and more!

This adorable ice cream shop in Kailua serves up mouthwatering ice cream made with all-natural, local ingredients. They make a mean banana split, and even have a vegan option!

6. Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts, Hawaii Kai
Though all of Bubbie’s fare is absolutely to-die for, the Oahu-based company is famous for its premium mochi ice cream with flavors like azuki bean, guava, strawberry dark chocolate chip, green tea and Li Hing mango.
Koko Marina Center, 7192 Kalanianaole Highway, Suite D103, Honolulu, HI 96825
With six locations across three Hawaiian islands, Lappert’s has an impressive selection of homemade and gourmet ice creams and all-natural sorbets. Parking may be tough near their Waikiki location, but trust us,
no Oahu ice cream trail is complete without a stop at Lappert's.
Hilton Hawaiian Village, 2005 Kalia Road Shop W2, Honolulu, HI 96815
With three locates across Oahu, this chain ice cream shop does not disappoint. Their tropical flavors are made with real fruit purees, and the perfect end to a busy day of ice cream tasting and driving.
