Sometimes, the best part about a hiking trail is the scenic views that you can catch along the way. We have plenty of hiking trails in Georgia that are as beautifully scenic as you can imagine. But if you’re looking for a trail that’ll provide a good bout of exercise, some sunshine, plus a delightful cliffside vantage point, then this is the hike for you. Did we mention it's less than 2-miles out-and-back?
The Appalachian Trail either starts or ends in Georgia, depending on where you’re kicking off your trek.
One of the most beautiful hikes in Georgia happens to be part of the Appalachian Trail, and is the 1.8-mile moderate hike from Tesnatee Gap to Cowrock Mountain.
It’s a short hike for many and is out-and-back under 2 miles, but produces some truly stellar cliffside views of Cow Rock, Mt. Yonah, and other surrounding mountains.
Accessible year-round, this is the type of trail that hikers will enjoy when the sun is shining and it’s warm…
…or when the leaves are starting to change.
There are even hikers who prefer the trail during the winter for a bit cooler trek with limited traffic from other hikers.
No matter which season you choose to hike this trail, though, just get ready for true beauty—Tesnatee Gap in and of itself is mesmerizing in natural wonder.
The elevation gain remains fairly low at less than 800-feet, plus with the short mileage, this is one trail that you can enjoy a bit more leisure from than effort.
Enjoy the beauty of nature, the easy out-and-back, plus the cliffside views that’ll make the entire trek worth it from this moderate hike.
