Everyone loves a good park adventure, especially the ones with nothing but pure, unfettered views of Mother Nature at her best. Georgia has quite a few stunning parks that we have highlighted over the years (like this incredible new yurt village in Sweetwater Creek State Park!) but this one might just be the most enchanting yet.
The F. D. Roosevelt State Park in Warm Springs clocks in at over 9,000-acres, making it the largest state park in Georgia.
With over 40 miles of trails winding through the dense hardwood and pine forests, guests seeking a natural paradise will be in heaven.
It doesn’t hurt either that many of the views inside the park and surrounding are filled with open air and endless skies.
Those looking to spend a weekend away have their option of setting up shop right along the lake’s edge…
…or renting one the nearby cabins, which has the same views with just a little more comfort.
Part of what makes F. D. Roosevelt State Park so popular, especially during the summer, is the famed Liberty Bell Swimming Pool.
Finding a natural swimming pool as clear as this one, fed by cool springs within the area, might prove difficult.
There is always something to do or see at this enchanted park, especially for small kids.
Take to the Pine Mountain Trail and find yourself standing in front of a cascading waterfall.
F. D. Roosevelt State Park is the perfect place to end your summer with the whole family in tow.
The address for F. D. Roosevelt State Park is 2970 Ga Highway 190, Warm Springs, GA 31822-2200. The park is open Sunday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., unless spending the night. To find out more information about the park, including how to reserve campsites, visit the website.
Meanwhile, when you’re in the Warm Springs area, make sure to check out this one-of-a-kind catfish cabin in Columbus.
