Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield in Georgia is known for its haunted history due to the bloody Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.

As most of you know, Georgia is just teeming with history. That is part of what makes this great state so fascinating. Not only did it have a hand in helping America become what it is today, but it also played an important role is shaping the history of this country as we know it. But what comes with history, can also be quite scary. Many people lost their lives during the wars which raged on in the state of Georgia, leaving behind the souls and spirits of restless men and women. There is one particular spot in Georgia which is haunted beyond what we can fathom. In fact, many people frequent this spot to this day, and wait to witness anything out of the ordinary. And let me tell you, their stories are quite chilling.

The reason why Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield is known to be haunted is due largely in part because of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.

This Battle was fought June 18 to July 2, 1864.

It was the very first time General Sherman launched a full frontal assault from an entrenched position.

Sherman was widely known for launching flank attacks, which was unique to his contemporaries.

But for the very first, and last time, Sherman attacked from the front which cost him thousands of lives, with huge losses of his men.

It has been reported that since the bloody battle, ghostly soldiers walk the grounds, appearing as apparitions in the distance.

Some grumble about their losses, while others hobble about with missing limbs.

It’s been reported that gunshots and cannons can be heard, too, of soldiers who are determined to finish the battle.

If that’s not chilling enough, the smell of blood and gunpowder are also described by witnesses.

Some witnesses have driven through the fields even during the daytime and felt nothing but complete dread.

Others have been hiking and experienced uniquely uncomfortable cold spots while heading along the trail.
