Buffalo Bill’s Irma Hotel and Restaurant is one of our favorite places to recommend visitors going to Cody, Wyoming. This hotel, just outside of Yellowstone National Park, has an incredible history, restored suites, and a restaurant that you’ll find yourself craving for weeks. In fact, the Irma Hotel and Restaurant is home to some of the best breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets in Wyoming, and is famous for its prime rib.

The Irma Hotel dates back to the Wild West, when its founder, William F. Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill, established the town of Cody. In 1902, he built what he called “the sweetest hotel that ever was” and named it after his daughter Irma. Throughout the years, travelers of all backgrounds have spent the night here and enjoyed its unique atmosphere. Today, that historic, western vibe is still evident. You can book one of several guest rooms in the hotel, each one beautifully restored, full of amenities, and even named after pioneers from Cody’s early days.

However, you don’t have to stay overnight to experience the charm of this historic hotel. Instead, you can step inside and dine at its on-site restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here, and you certainly won’t leave hungry. Each menu is packed with crowd favorites, and is what you'll want to focus on if you are craving a particular dish. A kid's menu is also available for those with smaller appetites or those young, picky eaters.

If you can’t make up your mind, this restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. While dishes can vary from day to day, for breakfast, you may choose items like French toast, carved ham, biscuits and gravy, and Irma’s famous bead pudding with whiskey sauce. Lunch is just as delicious, with options like ham, buffalo brisket, carved roast beef, chicken enchilada casserole, and buffalo lasagna.

But the Prime Rib Buffet has certainly made a name for itself and is a must-visit for dinner guests. This restaurant is well known for its slow-roasted prime rib, which is flavorful and prepared to perfection. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself coming back for more and more. Just be prepared—the portions can be quite large!

Of course, you’ll want to save room to taste many of the other delicious items at this buffet like the carved ham, barbecue buffalo, pork ribs, pasta, rice, coconut shrimp, baked salmon, various types of potatoes, veggies, soup, salad, and more. Pair your meal with one of the many available beers, wines, or signature cocktails on the menu as well and you’ve created a feast that is impossible to beat.

While it is easy to be mesmerized by the food at this hotel, take a few minutes to soak in the gorgeous details of the dining room. Check out the cherrywood backbar, for example, which was given to Buffalo Bill by Queen Victoria of England. Unique features are found all throughout the dining room and add to your overall experience.

The prime rib buffet may just be the best buffet in Wyoming, but the others at the Irma Hotel and Restaurant shouldn’t be overlooked. No matter when you visit, your taste buds will thank you. Here, you’ll have an experience you won’t want to forget.
