The Wisconsin Dells aren't exactly the first place that comes to mind when it comes to anything authentic. The tourist hot spot is meant to provide fun and frolicking and an escape from reality. Among all the bright, shiny plastic, tucked into a strip mall is the most unassuming little spot that you'll find yourself wanting to head back to again and again. Among all-you-can-eat gorge-fests and chain restaurants, Edytka's Polish Restaurant is a haven of warm, welcoming comfort. With food like your grandma used to make, this Polish diner in Wisconsin feels welcoming and homey.

Edytka's sits in a strip mall location that used to house a pizza place. You could drive past it 100 times and never quite notice it's there, but if you do, it's to your own detriment. This place is worth a trip to the Dells alone. Come hungry and leave happy knowing you've supported a local, family-run spot and your wallet will barely feel the hit it takes when it sees the bill.

If ever walking into a restaurant felt like getting a warm hug, it's Edytka's. It feels as though you've been invited into their home and are just friends over to have a homemade meal. Edyyka herself is often here and this is a true family-run business. You'll find members of her family at the counter, cleaning up and back in the kitchen. This is a labor of love and it shows through in every detail.

Everything here is handmade, using old school techniques and recipes to create some of the very best comfort food you've ever imagined. The food is no frills, but that doesn't mean it's not delicious.

You may have had pierogis before, but you've never had any like this. The dough is perfect and the filling full of flavor. They're little pockets of doughy heaven.

Simple cheese and potato pierogis will keep the kids happy, but the adults definitely want to branch out to try all the Polish specialties here. The borscht is chock full of flavor and the perfect blood red color. It's simply a special treat to get to enjoy it.

Try the platter that gives a little bit of everything from the menu here. You can taste the quality in the ingredients and the way they're prepared. You've never had kielbasa so good.

These are no skimpy cabbage rolls. They're stuffed to the edges with filling and then given just the perfect amount of a gravy bath to give them flavor without drowning them.

You will not be disappointed with anything you order here. Don't be surprised when folks come in with to-go orders big enough to stock their fridges and freezers back home. This food is legit. It's comforting and warming and just makes you feel like a great, nostalgic meal should.

Make sure you save room for dessert. Your mind won't know what to think of blueberry pierogis, but your stomach will thank you for them. From start to finish, this is, simply put, a perfect meal. After suffering through greasy, bland, and boring meals at the tourist-trap spots all over town, you'll love discovering the simple, hearty and mouthwatering meals at Edytka's.
