1. Harry’s Prohibition Bistro (Sheboygan)
Not all pizzerias are created equal, and Harry’s Prohibition Bistro is a prime example - it’s one of only a handful of pizzerias throughout the state certified by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana. Meeting the strict requirements of classic Italian Neapolitan pizza-making isn’t the only thing that sets Harry’s apart, though. Throughout the years, it’s become known for its unique flavor pairings, such as corn pizza.
2. Sam’s Pizza (Wausau)
Part of what makes Sam’s so special is that it’s been around for so long – 62 years, to be exact. Only growing in popularity throughout the decades, the pizzeria has garnered a reputation for its thin, crispy crust, quality pies, and affordable prices.
3. Portesi’s Fine Foods (Wisconsin Rapids)
Another longtime favorite, Portesi’s has been serving up fresh, homemade pizza and Italian dinners since 1961! Sure to pique the interest of all palates, the menu features classic pies as well as a slew of creative specialty pizzas, such as shrimp, chicken alfredo, and BBQ chicken.
4. Il Ritrovo (Sheboygan)
Another pizzeria certified by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana, Il Ritrovo is sure to impress even the most serious of pizza aficionados. Every pizza on the menu is made with fresh, authentic ingredients, resulting in pies that are delicious and flavorful. The Margherita Classico is the top-seller; however, if you ask a regular, they’ll likely tell you to go with the Giuseppe, which is made with mozzarella, Calabrian chili paste, chopped tomatoes, onions, sopressa salami and mascarpone.
5. Broken Tree Pizza (Neenah)
Homemade is the name of the game at this beloved Neenah pizzeria, which has been serving up great pizza since the 1980s. Each and every pie starts off with made-from-scratch dough, which is then topped with an array of flavorful sauces, fresh veggies, and meats, including house-made sausage.
6. The Brothers Three (Oconto)
Locals and visitors alike rave about the pizza from The Brothers Three, which regardless of toppings, boasts lots of cheese, crisp crust, and perfectly-seasoned sauce. The tasty selection includes all the classics as well as not-so-classic pies, such as Taco Ole’ and BBQ Chicken.
7. Port Sandy Bay (Two Rivers)
Pizza isn’t the only thing on the menu at this Two Rivers restaurant; however, it’s a customer favorite – and it’s not hard to see why. Peruse the pizza selection and, while you won’t find a ton of pies, you’ll find several options – all of which feature hearty topping combos.
8. Luigi’s Pizza and Pasta (Shawano)
In business since 1995, Luigi’s has had plenty of time to perfect its pies, which are easily identifiable by their signature crispy, yet chewy, thin crust. Aside from unique pies, such as Taco Pizza, the eatery’s classic pizzas stand out as well, thanks in part to thin-sliced onions, which can be found on top of the pizza, delivering a burst of flavor that’s sure to satisfy.
9. Pizza Brutta (Madison)
If you’re craving a classic Neapolitan pizza, this Madison eatery won’t disappoint. A customer favorite, the Neapolitan pies are made completely in-house – from the crust to the sauce to the mozzarella cheese.
10. Novanta (Middleton)
Novanta translates to "ninety" in Italian, which references the 90 seconds it takes for the eatery’s signature stone-baked Neapolitan pizzas to cook. Aside from a quick turn-around time, the pies at Novanta are revered for their crust, which is made using an ancient Italian recipe.
