Looking out over the serene waters of Lake Monona, there’s an outdoor Wisconsin café that delivers breathtaking views, delectable food, and a relaxing atmosphere that can't be beat. It’s called the Lake Vista Cafe, and it’s the ideal place to spend a warm afternoon in Madison. You’ll find it in the heart of the city, and you’ll want to stop by and grab a table.
The cafe is located on the roof of the iconic Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Designed by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright, this stunning structure sits on the shores of Lake Monona, and it's one of the city’s most beautiful landmarks.
Lake Vista Cafe provides diners with panoramic views of Lake Monona, a lake that covers over 3,000 acres to form one side of the city’s downtown isthmus.
The cafe’s tables are shaded by cheery umbrellas. Diners can enjoy a meal with a refreshing lake breeze.
Even though the cafe is located in the heart of downtown, it's very peaceful.
At Lake Vista Cafe, you can start with shareable dishes like house-made fries, which come with your choice of two house-made sauces.
Another popular choice is the farmer’s market cheese curds, sourced fresh from the Dane County Farmer’s Market.
The menu also has fresh salads, burgers, tacos, sandwiches and more. It’s casual food, but it’s all done very well.
The cafe is a great place to relax – it’s kid friendly, and it’s also a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends. But be sure to enjoy the cafe on a summer day, as it’s only open seasonally.
This is one of my favorite spots in Madison. To learn more about this outdoor Wisconsin café, visit Lake Vista Cafe on Facebook. If you’re planning on hitting the road to Madison this summer, here are some items that will make your trip even easier.
