This Once-Great American Brewery Is Now Decaying In Wisconsin

Schlitz beer is an iconic Wisconsin brew. The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was actually once the largest producers of beer in the United States before it was sold to Pabst Brewing in 1999.

This historic brewery in Milwaukee showcases the former grandeur of the once-great label. Read on to learn more about the site, and check out the stunning images photographer Ken Fager captured at this abandoned brewery.

This Schlitz brewery was originally constructed in 1890.

Schlitz was known as "the beer that made Milwaukee famous," and sported the slogan "when you’re out of Schlitz, you’re out of beer."

The Schlitz brewing label began to rise in popularity after it donated thousands of gallons of beer to Chicago after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

It became the world’s top beer producer in 1902.

However, the brewing company began to experience financial problems in the 1970s.

By the 1980s, Schlitz had been sold to Stroh Brewery Company.

It was later acquired by Pabst Brewing in 1999.

Pabst actually now produces "Schlitz Gusto" beer in honor of the legendary brewing company.

These stunning images highlight the aged beauty of one of the most important Schlitz breweries.

This historic brewery was demolished in 2013. However, these images help preserve some of the building's legacy.
