If ever there were a restaurant deserving of a spot on your bucket list, it’s Old Post Office Restaurant. You’ll find the must visit eatery in the charming village of Ephraim.
Reasons to visit are as plentiful as the eatery’s rave reviews. First of all, it’s loaded with history. Just as the name implies, it’s housed in the building that served as the area’s post office in the 1800s.
Secondly, the views are incredible since it’s located on the water.
And don’t forget about the eatery’s award-winning breakfast.
But that’s still not all the restaurant has going for it. There’s also its old fashioned fish boils - a tradition that was brought over by the Scandinavians more than 100 years ago.
Old Post Office Restaurant specializes in carrying on the tasty tradition.
Fun for all ages, Boil Master Jeremy "Torch" Klaubauf puts on quite the show while prepping the fish.
Kick back and watch as he creates a boil over, which happens when the oils from the fish rise to the top of the kettle and kerosene is added to the flames.
Not only entertaining, the boil over signifies that the catch is ready to serve.
Speaking of the catch, it’s whitefish from Lake Michigan, which is caught by local fisherman.
You’ll be dining on more than fish, though.
The menu for the traditional feast also includes red potatoes, little white onions, and homemade breads.
Oh, and don’t forget about dessert, which is a piece of fresh baked cherry pie.
Fish boils are held Monday – Saturday evenings as well as Sunday evenings during holiday weekends.
