West Virginia boasts a variety of beloved local foods, from ramps to West Virginia Hot Dogs.

West Virginians love a good meal, and with all these good great foods here, they are not hard to come by. Here are some of West Virginia's favorite foods.

1. Ramps

They may not smell great, but these are delicious. Ramp dinners are one of the best things about springtime in West Virginia.

2. Biscuits

Whether they be made at Tudor's or in your own kitchen, biscuits are a West Virginia favorite.

3. Peperoni Rolls

We are so proud of this West Virginia-born food.

4. Venison

We have a lot of hunters, so naturally we eat a lot of deer meat.

5. Morel mushrooms

Hunting them is a tradition here.

6. Beans and cornbread

This recipe, with ham and red beans and cheddar in the cornbread, looks especially good.

It's an autumn favorite here!

8. Italian food

Italian food has been part of our heritage ever since the early 1900s, when West Virginia was home to many Italian immigrants. There are lots a of great Italian restaurants here.

There are variations on this, but generally West Virginia Hot Dogs have cole slaw, chili and mustard. Yum!
