You’ll Crave This West Virginia Restaurant’s Grilled Cheese All Winter Long

The pros at Toasted are serving up gourmet grilled cheeses, piled high with ooey-gooey cheese and other delightful ingredients.

A grilled cheese is the perfect antidote to that unrelenting winter chill. And while it's rewarding to make it at home, we certainly don't mind leaving it to the experts. Right now, one of our favorite places to go for a soul-affirming grilled cheese sandwich is Toasted in Inwood, West Virginia. Famous for its gourmet grilled cheeses, this restaurant is equally celebrated for its sides, including made-from-scratch tomato and basil soup or loaded tater tots.

Due to popular demand, the former food truck known as Toasted recently opened a brick-and-mortar in Inwood, WV. The motto at Toasted is "Bold Grilled Cheese in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia," and that really says it all. Everything crafted at Toasted is made with love, and for that reason, it could all be qualified as comfort food. Plus, the inviting and warm atmosphere has an at-home feel, whether you're originally from the area or simply passing through.

As you browse the menu, you'll notice there are about ten or so different grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from at any given time, ranging from the OG (cheddar/Muenster on sourdough) to the Mac (homemade mac and cheese, bacon, and cheddar on sourdough).

The bread is buttered and toasted to perfection, giving way to an ooey-gooey center loaded with cheese and other delightful fillings. No matter what grilled cheese option you choose, don't forget to pair it with a side. The tomato basil soup is an obvious winner, whether you dip your sandwich or keep it to the side. Other must-try sides include toasted fries, dirty tops, Italian pasta salad, or crab dip and chips.

If you stop by early in the day, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., you can choose something from the breakfast menu, which includes enticing options such as breakfast quesadillas, a toasted breakfast bowl, the Before School Special (fried bologna, fried egg, toasted sauce, and American cheese on sourdough) or the classic SEC (sausage, egg, and cheese). Trust us, it's a meal you're not going to want to miss!
