A Local Favorite Since 1950, Mario’s Fishbowl Serves The Biggest, Coldest Beers In West Virginia

Mario's Fishbowl in Morgantown, West Virginia, is a historic bar and grill known for serving beer in large fishbowl goblets and its family-friendly atmosphere.

You may have heard of putting a model ship into a beer bottle (or maybe in one of its larger, clearer bottle cousins), but have you ever heard of drinking beer from a fishbowl? You have if you live in West Virginia!

Welcome to the original Mario's Fishbowl on Richwood Avenue in Morgantown, a local favorite bar and grill for over 70 years.

They also have newer locations on University Avenue in Morgantown and Fairmont Road in Westover.

What kind of restaurant earns the moniker "Fishbowl"? One that serves its beer in aquarium-sized goblets.

The original "fishbowl" goblets were purchased locally from Morgantown Glassworks.

These drinking goblets are so huge that the restaurant brags about serving the "biggest, coldest beer in town," and we believe it!

There's plenty of good food to go with your drink here at Mario's Fishbowl as well, and although you might not expect it, the atmosphere of the restaurant is undeniably family friendly, thanks to the good people who run the place and those who visit.

What else is special about Mario's? The decor. With walls plastered with notes, bills, receipts, and photos from patrons throughout the decades, you could spend hours perusing this varied, eclectic collection. If walls could talk, these ones would have plenty of stories to share!

Mario's Fishbowl celebrated 70 years of great memories and good food in 2020, and they're still going strong.

So head on down to Mario's Fishbowl for a drink and a huge plate of wings (or a burger or a salad or a wrap) and learn what thousands of others before you have already discovered: this just might be the best bar and grill in the state.

To learn more, visit Mario's Fishbowl's website or Facebook page. And while Mario's boasts the biggest, coldest beers in West Virginia, here's another tavern that lays claim to the best wings in the area.
