The Most Unique, Unforgettable Dining Experience You’ll Ever Have In Washington

We've got some pretty impressive restaurants here in Washington. From the magical multi-course experience you can only have on Lummi Island to the luxurious ambiance of Seattle's Canlis, you'll find all kinds of incredible eateries in the Evergreen State.

But nothing quite compares to the dining experience you'll have at the Blind Cafe.

The Blind Cafe is a pop-up restaurant experience that takes place in several states, including Washington... specifically, Seattle.

The cafe comes to Seattle several times a year, and it's returning at the end of September.

A meal at the Blind Cafe means dining completely in the dark.

The experience begins with guests enjoying a free drink and mingling in the lobby of the venue. Eventually, your party will be led to a table in the dark, where you'll enjoy a pitch-black meal while listening to a live musical performance.

While the event does include legally blind keynote speakers, the founders want guests to know that this is not meant to simulate blindness.

Instead, they want you to enjoy a dining experience with the rest of your senses. Without being able to see - and look at your phone - you'll be able to listen carefully to the other guests at your table, enjoy the sounds of the music and truly savor the taste of the food.

When was the last time you enjoyed your food without looking at it?

Guests who have dined at the Blind Cafe often describe it as a life-changing experience.

The menu, which is prepared by local and professional chefs in each city, is usually vegan and gluten free.

Since The Blind Cafe is a pop up event and there often isn't access to a typical kitchen, it's easier that way - plus, if the dishes are free of meat, dairy and gluten, it makes it easier for those with special dietary needs or allergies to enjoy the experience. However, you can hire the Blind Cafe for private events, where you can enjoy any kind of food you'd like.

Tickets to this one-of-a-kind dining experience are offered on a sliding scale so that everyone can enjoy it.

They ask those who can afford it to contribute $85 for a ticket. If you can't swing that, send them an email with a price point you can afford, and they'll send you a discount code for cheaper tickets.

The Blind Cafe returns to Seattle September 28, 29 and 30.

You can dine at either 6 PM or 8:45 PM at Nalanda West at 3902 Woodland Park Avenue North.
