This Delicious Restaurant In Washington On A Rural Country Road Is A Hidden Culinary Gem
Copper Creek Inn near Mt. Rainier National Park offers cozy accommodations and a highly praised restaurant.
Mt. Rainier National Park is a must-see for all Washingtonians, and it's worth making a trip (or three) in your lifetime. But we'll be the first to admit that the restaurant options on the way to the park are somewhat hit or miss. There's one place that's definitely a hit, however, and you'll find it two miles from the Nisqually Entrance to the park.
The Copper Creek Inn is located at 35707 SR 706 E in Ashford.
If you've been to the park, you may have passed by this place plenty of times without even noticing it.
The property offers several cozy cabins and guest suites perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Mt. Rainier.
But it's the restaurant, which opened in 1946, that gets the most attention.
The restaurant at the Copper Creek Inn has been featured in Lonely Planet, which called it "one of the greatest rural restaurants in the state."
Most of the cabins on the property come with mini kitchens, but you won't need them -- the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily almost all year long.
They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the winter, but otherwise, they're open 7 days a week.
The food here is delicious and surprisingly sophisticated.
Their steaks are perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the wild Alaskan blackberry salmon dinner is outstanding.
Whatever you do, save room for the homemade pie. It's excellent.
If you're too stuffed while you're at the restaurant, you can take one with you when you go.
The restaurant at the Copper Creek Inn is a total hidden gem. Here are some other under-the-radar restaurants in Washington to try.
