There’s No Place Like The Ruby Slipper Bar & Grill In Washington
Ruby Slipper Bar & Grill in Port Orchard was renamed and reopened after being damaged by a rare tornado.
It's pretty rare that you hear about a tornado in Washington, or at least one that causes lasting damage. But when you happen to be a restaurant owner in the Pacific Northwest and your business is damaged by such a strange phenomenon, you have to have a bit of a sense of humor about it. And that's how the Ruby Slipper Bar & Grill was named.
Once upon a time, the restaurant known as Bethel Square in Port Orchard was damaged by a freak tornado.
The tornado, determined by meteorologists to have been an EF-2, dropped from the skies on a December afternoon and did irreparable damage to the building.
Owner Shari Patrick decided not to let her business of 22 years close for good.
She spent the better part of a year repairing the damage and reopening the restaurant under a new name.
While the Ruby Slipper Bar & Grill looks a bit different, it still has the same owner, the same friendly team, and the same tasty food.
Many of the customers are like family, and they're so glad to be "home."
The menu consists of a wide variety of all American classics, starting with breakfast.
And they don't serve small portions.
Whether you order a burger, sandwich, or a hearty dinner entree, you won't be disappointed.
They even have some healthy substitutions and can accommodate most dietary restrictions.
The pies that put this place on the map years ago are still as popular as ever.
Enjoy some after your lunch or take one home to your family for dessert.
Ruby Slipper Bar & Grill is temporarily closed, but they'll reopen on June 1.
They'll continue to serve takeout meals or allow for some onsite dining, depending on what is allowed.
