Indulge In Homemade Jams, Scrumptious Cheese And Gourmet Goodness At Ila’s Foods In Washington

Ila's Foods, a small business in Tumwater, is known for its gourmet jams, jellies, and famous bleu cheese salad dressing, and is committed to community support.

If you live in Thurston County, you may have been lucky enough to sample some delicious gourmet jelly with the Ila's Foods label on it. If you've ever been curious as to where that label comes from, you'll be happy to know it comes from a wonderfully generous small business with a fantastic backstory. Recently, the company acquired a beautiful new warehouse, and you can buy their tasty products online... so today, we're giving Ila's Foods a well-deserved shout-out.

Ila's Foods is located in Tumwater, where it got its start at local Farmers Markets.

The company was technically founded by Debra, but it was made to honor her mother, Ila, and her famous jam recipes. Ila passed away in 2000, but one of her dreams was to jar and sell her famous salad dressing.

Debra was a teacher in North Thurston Public Schools. Teaching was always her passion, but she unfortunately had some health issues, and her job wasn't waiting for her when she felt healthy again.

Debra decided to launch Ila's foods, and the rest is history.

While the company is best known for its jams and jellies, it was Ila's famous bleu cheese salad dressing that really put them on the map.

The first time Debra made it to sell at the Hoodsport 4th of July Celebration, she sold out almost immediately. To this day, it's tough to keep this dressing in stock.

Ila's Foods has since expanded to include 80 more products to their offerings.

Each recipe comes from Debra's imagination, although they're often inspired by friends and family suggestions.

Each creation uses fresh, local ingredients whenever possible.

The Walla Walla Sweet Onion Relish is especially popular.

The best part about this company, other than the fantastic food, is the generosity.

Ila's Foods strives to give back to the community as much as possible. Since the very beginning, Debra and her family have pledged to give at least 10% of their proceeds to local charities.

You'll still see Ila's Foods products at Farmers Markets and other food-focused events, but most of their delicacies are available on their website.

They also sell some seriously scrumptious seasonal treats, so make sure to check in around the holidays.

Curious? Host your own private tasting of Ila's Foods. It's all available for purchase here.
